Does JPG to WebP lose quality?

The converter exports a 92% quality WebP, which is a lossy encode. The decoded pixels are redrawn once, so quality is close to the original JPG but not bit-identical.

Is WebP supported by browsers?

Yes. WebP is supported by all modern browsers on desktop and mobile, and it is also accepted by WordPress, Cloudflare, and most image CDNs.

Can a JPG become a transparent WebP?

No. JPG has no alpha channel, so there is no transparency data in the source to preserve. The output WebP is opaque.
