Sellers, designers, and automation builders use the Ecommerce Image Analyzer to check a product photo before uploading it to a store, marketplace, or content system. Instead of opening the file in an editor to look up its properties, you upload it once and get the information you need instantly.

The analyzer reads the image directly and reports what is actually in the file — dimensions, format, file size, aspect ratio, transparency, animation, and deterministic technical-quality signals. It does not guess at visual quality and it is not an AI review.

How to Analyze a Product Image

  1. 1

Upload a PNG, JPG, WEBP, or GIF product photo

  2. 2

    Photo2URL analyzes the image properties

  3. 3

Review dimensions, format, and quality signals

  4. 4

Optimize, host, or automate with the API

What the Analyzer Checks

Dimensions
Width and height in pixels
Format & MIME type
JPG, PNG, WEBP, or GIF
File size
Exact bytes and human-readable size
Aspect ratio
Width-to-height ratio
Transparency
Whether the image has an alpha channel
Animation
Whether the file is an animated GIF or WebP
Technical quality
Resolution, aspect, and file-efficiency signals

Supported Formats

JPG
PNG
WEBP
GIF

These are the formats the analyzer can inspect and the Photo2URL upload pipeline accepts. Other formats such as HEIC are not supported by the analyzer — convert them first with the HEIC to JPG converter.

Common Ecommerce Image Problems

Oversized or low-resolution images

Images that are too small look blurry when a storefront zooms in; unnecessarily huge images slow down pages. The analyzer reports exact pixel dimensions.

Excessive file size

Large JPG and PNG files make listing pages and emails load slowly. The analyzer reports file size and flags inefficiently large files.

Wrong aspect ratio

Product photos with extreme ratios can crop poorly inside fixed-size gallery slots. The analyzer reports the width-to-height ratio.

Unexpected transparency

A transparent PNG can show a checkerboard or wrong background in tools that do not support alpha. The analyzer reports whether transparency is present.

When the analyzer flags a problem, fix it with the matching tool: change dimensions with the Image Resizer, reduce file size with the Image Compressor, or prepare a web-ready copy with the Image Optimizer.

Automate product image checks

The same analysis is available as an authenticated API for agents and automation. Upload an image with POST /api/v1/images/upload, then request structured metadata with POST /api/v1/images/analyze.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Ecommerce Image Analyzer free?

Yes. You can analyze product photos without an account or payment. Free guest uploads are subject to the same daily limits as the rest of Photo2URL (15 uploads per day per device).

Are my product images uploaded to a server?

Yes — the image is uploaded so Photo2URL can read its real properties, and it is then hosted on the Photo2URL CDN. Free guest files are kept for 180 days. Never upload images that contain private or confidential content you do not want stored.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WEBP, and GIF. The analyzer reads these formats' container headers to report dimensions, format, transparency, and animation.

Will this tell me if my image meets Amazon, Shopify, or Etsy requirements?

No. The analyzer reports objective technical properties of your image, such as dimensions, format, and file size. Marketplace requirements change and differ per category, so use each marketplace's own guidance to confirm compliance.

What does the technical quality score mean?

It is a deterministic signal score computed from the image itself: resolution, aspect ratio, and file efficiency. A low score means the image is small, unusually shaped, or inefficiently encoded — not an AI or subjective quality rating.

What should I do if my image has issues?

Use the Image Resizer to change dimensions, the Image Compressor to reduce file size, or the Image Optimizer to re-encode to a modern format. Then host the result and use its direct URL in your listings or store.
